Final Draft

Film Fonts

When planning our film we realised that we needed a sortof scary/mysterious font for our credits. This would be our production name And names of group members and what they did. For the fonts we lookded on the sony vegas pro 8()default fonts but we didn't feelstrongly with any of these So we looked online for a free font download website and found www.dafont.com a free font download website with a large variety of fonts. We downloaded 4 or 5 fonts for our film but in the end only chose two; 'BASE 02' and 'El & Font Gothic'. BASE 02 which is a slight army styled font which also had a nice distorted effect that we were looking for, and at the same time it still stands out well whcih is fairly easy to read. El & Font Gothic is a fairly dark font which fits in very well with the horror genre as it has a distinctive gothy theme and we thought it worked quite well for our film title.

Editing

For our films that we have done throughout our Stages in our group we have used the editing of Vegas Pro 8 (). This is a very good software for editing and it made light work for our film. Altough i wasn't familiar with the the software myself. Mikey was very good with it. He was able to teach me and the other members of our group to us the software and therefore we came up with what i think a well edited film. The video effects and media that was avalibe for the software helped a lot with as when the making of our film. We didn't have to add in the effects ourselves but we could chose from the range available with the software.

Film Sound Track/Effets

When we first started to look for the Sound track for our film we thought that it would be easy and that we wouldn't spend much time doing it. We soon came to realise that it was going to be harder then we first thought. Firstly we tryed looking on royalty free websites to see if we could find the right music to match our film. We then later realised that this wasn'tgoing to give the right effects that we needed. so We did research on "youtube" looking at past media projects to find if anyone had found relevent music to what we wanted. We luckily came across a short clip which had the music we wanted. We then emailed him asking permision to use the music that they had used.Fortunatly for us they did reply with the permision and the link to the site with the music. If we were to refil again i would suggest that we found the music first before we filmed so that we could match the music to scenes in the film. For instance getting the right tension when there is a thrilling scene.

Below is the video we found with the music in.

This is the video we got the camera sound from again we looked on youtube to find the sound and again contacted the creator to get premission to use it in our film.

Ident

For our ident we had originally tryed to have footage of a TV in a a dark and mysterious room. we tryed this by putting one of Mikeys TV's in his celler. This looked when we came to edit but then realised that it wouldn't be possible to edit our brand on the TV, "HELM Productions". so unfortunatly we couldn't do this idea. So what we did is got a picture of a TV then edited the Fuzz on to the screen to creat a TV picture with no signal. For a back ground we used a blank black colour to add contrast. In the insprational Ident the music was almost perfect for what we wanted our Ident to sound like when the TV is turnedon. So we emailed the Person who had done the Ident then and asked for permision to use the sound. Which they gave us. This saved uslotsof timethat could of been wasted finding a copy right free sound.

Our Film Rating

We feel that our film deserves a film rating of "12". 12 Rating means material that is suitable, in general, only for those aged 12 and over. Certain scenes in the film may upset children under 12 which manyparents will find unsuitable
for them.

Feedback

Improvments: too blurry, pixilated camera shots, not enough narrative. take the volume down on the camera noise. needs more angles.seems more like a trailer than an opening.
Success:well edited, the music matches the acton on the screen.nice effect between shots.well placed titles, that fit in with the clip transactions.
comments: i wanted to watch more, music and transactions work well to make me want to watch on.
The general level we recieved from everyone was around level three.

Positive comments:
.Good idea for the credits
.Original idea
.Well thought out- blending in credits with camera angles and picture.
.They like the idea of a psycho stalker
.Seems well planned
.They like the idea of using a polariod
.Good research-films related to pyschological thrillers
.Good creation of suspence not revealing the stalkers identity.

Potential problems:
.Could be like the film, one hour photo, try to make it different.
.Could struggle to find an adult to play the teachers.
.Needs more of an enigma.
.Relate music and camera shots to theme
.Hiding of identity of the psycho
.Realism
.Tough storyline, may be hard to put across
.Need to maintain interest, seem scary?

Advice:
.Get older people to starr in our film.
.Show a scene of paranoia fro the girl.
.More planning for the storyline.
.Get hold of a polarioid
.Useful and relevant sound affects.
.Experiment with editing
.Produce test shots and put them onto the blog.
dont fall into the usual filming conventions, be experimental with the shots and music.

Detailed Plan

The Plot/Action
Our film is based around a male teacher who is taking pictures of the female students at his school. She is un-aware that he is doing so and continues to carry on her life as normal. We see clips of the teacher cutting out photos and sticking them onto his wall as if to create a shrine for the girl and begin to become a little creped out by the character. Later on the teacher goes to the school and we see the girl through the teacher’s eyes. Then he blacks out and we see someone waking up next to the girl and someone staring at her through her bedroom window.

The Genre/Theme(s)
Our film raises the issues to do with stalking/stalkers, obsession and strangers, the reason for this is because of main character is a teacher in his everyday life and could be seen as 'normal' but then when we see him on his own he is a completely different character he is now strange, mysterious and a little creepy. We chose to portray our character like this to show how even the nicest most normal looking people could easily turn out to be the most nasty and strange. Based on these issues and themes we decided that our film best fitted a psychological thriller/drama.

The Narrative
Our film will have none or very little dialogue so we have decided to add in some non-digetic music to break the silence and add tension and create the right theme for the film. The change of music/tone will show a change in story line for example the music will get louder and faster when the situations becomes more interesting and perhaps more dangerous or scary for the characters within the film. The reason for not using any/much dialogue in the opening of the film is so that it doesn’t look unprofessional (and in order to create a professionally looking movie you need professional actors and they tend to be hard to get a hold of).

The Character(s)
The Stalker/teacher is an attractive, tall, young man who has quite a few admirers within his everyday job making his stalker side/personality seem very strange and out of place. He will act completely normal when in the position of the school teacher and will seem like and everyday person and then when he is on his own and is 'the stalker' he will be creepy and strange acting.

The Girl/Student who is being stalked by the teacher is a pretty, blonde haired blue eye girl (classic horror/thriller stereotype) who might also find the teacher attractive however in the film seems to have no knowledge that he exists. Being as the film will not really show her in the main spotlight we have not got many outstanding characteristics for her and she will simply come across andan average female, teenaged student.

The Location
Our film is located in a old house in a very quite village the house has a cellar were we will be filming the red room shots and two bedrooms one for the girl and one for the stalker. We will also be filming some shots in a school so we can show that the teacher and the student go to the same school.

Mise-en-Scene
The house in our film is set is very dark and old fashioned perfect for the stalker we will also be using older furniture in the set and a room will very dull coloured walls so that the audience will be forced to focus on the stalkers shrine of pictures. Also there is a very feminine looking bedroom with posters and things typically seen in a girl’s bedroom we will be adding in things like pink bed sheets e.t.c to help create the image of a teenage girl’s bedroom. The will be very little lighting in the teacher's/stalker's room only glimpses of natural light from what we imagine to be the moon. The clips in the school will have added lighting (if needed for filming purposes) and the girls bedroom will be quite bright to show how the stalker focus on her and to connate that she is the light in his life.

Camera Work
In the opening scene we plan to use fast, quick paced camera shots of the teacher getting ready for work and putting up pictures of the girl. Every few shots we’ll have a camera flash and the camera noise to show the constant use of the Polaroid camera by the teacher and to keep with the theme of a stalker. Our camera angles will mostly consist of close ups and over the shoulder shots that only show parts of the teachers face, hands, clothes, feet to restrict how much the audience knows about the characters appearance and to maintain the mystery of him. We will also try to use a lot of stranger shots e.g. low angle shots to try and keep with the genre of psychological thriller.

The Editing
At the start of the film we are creating a montage almost of the teacher getting ready for work in his everyday schedule and fixed routine. We will crop down certain clips or maybe make them longer and slowed down to make sure that they fit in with the music and the film looks smooth and maintains continuity. We will be playing around with light and colour to help add certain things towards the Mise en scene of the film.

Ident inspiration

This short clip is an inspiration of what we want to do for our Ident in our film. I feel that this Ident is a really good way to start off our film. We are planning on only using the part of the film where the Ident appears on the Television. This Ident is a sky movies Ident that is at a really good. We are trying to match the quality of this Ident so that we can grab the audience attention at the very start of our film opening. If we do this then the audience will want to watch more. An example of this is the James bond opening when he shoots down the tunnel and blood drips down the screen. This has a good effect and is now used in everyone of there films. If we could have the same effect on our Ident then we would grab the audience from the start to keep them watching.

HELM Productions

HELM productions came when we found that by rearranging the first letter of our names in to a order that created a word. The letters came from the names Harry, Emily, Lauren and Mikey. We thought as a group that HELM was a really good name for our productions.
